The Langtang trek is a trek with real heart. The Langtang Valley is one of the most beautiful places in Nepal with stunning landscapes and authentic culture along with heartwarming hospitality all within close reach of Kathmandu.

The route from Kyagin Gompa in Langtang to Tarke Gyang in Helambu, requires crossing the challenging Ganja La Pass, one of the most challenging passes in Nepal. This wedge in the Himalayas is situated at an altitude of 5,106m. Our path makes a precarious move along the edge on the south side of the valley through to Langtang village which lies at 3,500m. In the south side you’ll find a timberland of rhododendron and juniper trees and in the spring time it is a perfect spot to spot the birds and blossoms of Nepal.

Helambu town radiates a Tibetan vibe and you will see fields coated by stone dividers as well as crowds of yaks, the most significant creature for the inhabitants here. From Tarke Gyang, we descend to Melamchi Khola before climbing to Pati Bhanjyang, and then conclude our trek down in Sundarijal. From there we will drive back to Kathmandu

Overnight at the Hotel Mulberry. (B)

  • Day 3: Kathmandu to Dhunche 1970m 5hrs drive

After an energizing breakfast at our hotel , we will start our lengthy drive through the northern slopes surrounding Kathmandu. During our drive will pass through great, rolling hills full of greenery. A nice contrast to the city region and along the way we will have a chance to see some of the famous Himalayan mountains; Manasalu, Ganesh Himal and Annapurna II. We will stop for a mid-day break at Trishuli Bazaar. From Dhunche, we drive a little further to Syabrubesi for our overnight stay. After our check in and some refreshment, our guide will give a briefing on the excursion that starts from tomorrow. (B,D)

  • Day 4: Syabru to Lama Hotel 2130m 6 walking hrs

We start our trek close to the Langtang River, with a gently sloping stroll for about 30 mins. After we cross the suspension bridge, our walk gradually enters some bamboo timberland and then to a new landmark, an area created from the avalanches from the earthquake in 2015. As we move along, we will go through diverse forests transitioning from maple and oak to rhododendron, enchanting us along the way. During our walk we may cross paths with the numerous wildlife protected by the conservation area. If we are lucky, we may see yellow-throated martens, wild hogs, langur monkeys, red pandas, and himalayan mountain bears. On the last part of our trail for the day, we have a walk through the bamboo trail where we reach Remche. (B,D)

  • Day 5: Gomma 2804m 5 walking hrs

After breakfast, we start our trek for Langtang Valley. Langtang Valley is the biggest settlement in this district. It’s mostly settled by the Tamang people, an ethnic group who follow Buddhism and also some Sherpa settlements. During our trek we will follow a charming route along the Langtang River where we will see numerous agricultural farmhouses, mills operated through running water, and prayer wheels. As we draw nearer towards Langtang we will see a greater amount of the houses and religious communities that were affected by the 2015 Earthquake. They are grateful for your presence, as choosing to visit this area you are supporting sustainable tourism and helping the local communities to recover. As we move along we will be enraptured by the views of Mt. Langtang Lirung through the woods. Langtang Valley is also the headquarters for this area. (B,D)

  • Day 6: Kyangjin Gompa 3800m 6 walking hrs

Now familiar with the area, we cheerfully start the morning with our excursion to Kangjinn Gompa. We stroll past the numerous mani dividers and prayers carved in stones. Alongside numerous small settlements we see tremendous icefall from the Langtang mountains. Our path is dusty and breezy for the greater part of the day, until we reach a network of wooden support bridges before reaching Kyanjin Gompa. It is the most sacred religious monastery in this region. And after a short tour we can also visit some cheese production facilities produced by the area’s local dairy farmers. We can try the neighborhood cheddar and stroll around taking in the beautiful panorama of the Langtang region mountains. (B,D)

  • Day 7: Kyangjin Gompa rest and exploration

Today is a rest/acclimatization day. After sleeping in a bit and having a leisurely breakfast, we can explore the surrounding area. We check out the religious communities and local trade development programs with the local community. We also have alternative programs for short climbs around the valley with grand vistas of the Langtang area or we can return to the cheddar plant to learn more about cheese making (and tasting!). Today is a good day to choose your own adventure. (B,D)

  • Day 8: Trek to Ganjala Phedi 4300m 6-7 walking hrs

From today our trip increases in intensity due to the rise in elevation. We move over the Langtang River via a picturesque suspension bridge and through extensive rhododendron forests before we reach Ngengang. Depending upon the season that we trek, we may experience slowdowns due to snow. We camp overnight. (B,L,D)

  • Day 9: Ganja-La Pass 5122m 7-8 walking hrs

Early morning after our quick breakfast, we head out for our journey. We have a difficult trek for the day. Ganja-la pass is one of the most challenging in this region due to its high elevation and snow which covers the ground for a long period of the year. We are rewarded along the way with a mesmerizing view of the many mountains of the region. Upon summiting the mountain we get an extraordinary paranomic perspective on the Langtang district and the Tibetan border. We set our camp for tonight. (B,L,D)

  • Day 10: Duppu Kharka camp 4000m 5-6 walking hrs

We start our day remembering that it will be a simple trek as we will be descending. Despite the fact that the path is a long one, it doesn't deter us for we will have so many delights along the way. As we close on to Dukppu, we come across some small settlements from Helembu; typically Helmo, Lamas, Sherpas. When we reach Dukpu we set our camp for the evening. (B,L,D)

Numerous monasteries and petitions banners can be found in this town. We camp overnight . (B,L,D)

  • Day 12: Sermathnag Hotel 2610m 3-4 walking hrs

After breakfast we set out comfortably for our walk which is only for 3-4 hrs of strolling. Sermathang town is a Sherpa settlement, and not very many cabins are found here. We will have time to explore and rest at Sermathang (B,D)
